Scope

Provide mechanical systems design and construction phase services for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for renovation of the existing 94,000 square foot school.

Special Circumstances

• New HVAC system including 55 energy efficient water-cooled heat pumps serving the individual classrooms, and 5 package units serving the common areas (cafeteria, multi-purpose rooms, etc.).

• Tempered water loop dedicated to the heat pumps is cooled by a 220-ton cooling tower and heated by a 1,000 93% efficient MBH gas-fired boiler.

• Outside air requirements are met by five energy recovery ventilators, each with a heat wheel for sensible and latent heat recovery.

• Total OSA delivered was 31,000 CFM.

• Entire existing domestic water system was removed to ensure no lead contamination of the drinking water.

• Cooling tower drain lift station automatically pumps water to sewer system.

• Cooling tower selected for low noise impact on neighboring residences.
