Emergency Department Addition and Renovation

Scope

Provide mechanical systems design and construction phase services for a 17,600 sq. ft. addition and a 10,500 sq. ft. renovation of the emergency department.

Special Circumstances

  • Two new custom chilled water air handling units with variable frequency drive fan motor and airside economizer cycle. Each air-handling unit has independent ducted primary and secondary outside air intake connections to maintain required ventilation requirements.

  • Developed the Building Automation System sequence of operations for the emergency department.

  • Maintain occupancy of Emergency Department during construction and renovation.

  • Decontamination showers with underground decontamination waste holding tank.

  • Water and medical gases routed within crawlspace to serve new addition.

  • Waste and rainwater systems routed to include new building portions but avoid existing building to allow occupancy of existing building.

  • Medical oxygen, air, and vacuum systems with shut-off valve cabinets located outside of each building area.

  • Relocated medical gas master alarm panels.

  • Various styles of plumbing fixtures including wall-hung and floor-mounted toilets, sensor-operated fixtures within public restrooms, various sinks, and a handicapped accessible scrub sink.
