Upper School Building

Scope

Provide mechanical systems design and construction phase services for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a new 40,000 sq. ft. classroom building with administration suite and an integral alternate basement build-out plan.

Special Circumstances

  • Designed water-source heat pump system for classroom space conditioning with full building tempered water loop, and a boiler and cooling tower to control loop temperature. 

  • Tempered water system and cooling tower each provided with two full-size pumps for main/standby operation.

  • Separate roof-mounted enthalpy-type tempered energy recovery ventilators (ERV) with full dehumidification and hot gas reheat, ducted separately to deliver ventilation air neutrally to each space.

  • Designed fume hood exhaust with integral tempered make-up air system for reduced ventilation loads for second-floor science room.  Gas, water, and waste piped to each lab desk and the fume hood.  Piping connections provided for future conversion of additional classrooms into science labs.
