New Gymnasium

Scope

Provide mechanical systems design and construction phase services for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new 13,000 sq. ft. gymnasium with a two-story support building attached to the gym. Support building is roughly 17,500 sq. ft. with additional exercise and meeting rooms, offices, locker rooms, restrooms, and concessions.

Special Circumstances

  • Basic building HVAC system is based on a tempered water loop piped throughout the building, with individual water source heat pumps for each space, boiler plate heat exchanger, cooling tower, and pumps.

  • Large percentage of outside air required by the 2000 IBC for gymnasiums.

  •  High latent load in exercise rooms.

  •  Building systems designed for partial building occupancy conditions where only concessions & two restrooms are in occupied mode, and rest of building is unoccupied.

  • The systems consist of custom rooftop direct expansion air conditioning units with integral energy recovery wheels and a hot-water heating system located in the lower floor mechanical room.
