Building Expansion and Renovation

Scope

Complete mechanical design and construction phase services for a 20,000 sq. ft. expansion of this exercise facility, and an HVAC upgrade of a portion of the existing facility.  The air conditioning system serving the new multi-purpose gym was designed for low noise interference.  The HVAC units serving the existing Fitness area were replaced with new high efficiency units featuring accessories to control space humidity.

Special Circumstances

• Air conditioning system serving the new 4,000 sq. ft. Adventure Gym included design features for low noise input into the room to allow for movie screening, i.e. duct silencers, vibration isolation supports, and low air velocity in the ducts.

• HVAC units serving exercise or high occupancy areas were equipped with hot gas reheat coils to limit humidity level in the space to acceptable amounts.

• Energy recovery ventilator provided for the Adventure Gym utilizes variable speed fans and enthalpy heat wheel to minimize utility costs required to maintain acceptable indoor air quality.

• Plumbing system provided for new toilets and Coffee Bar.
