Scope

Complete mechanical design and construction phase services for a new 90,000 square foot classroom and office building with a café and executive dining room. Project facility has achieved a Gold rating under the LEED green building program.

Special Circumstances

  • Rainwater used for site irrigation, saving 312,000 gallons of domestic water per year.

  • Low flow plumbing fixtures used to conserve 593,000 gallons a year over 1992 EPACT requirements.

  • Building designed to comply with ASHRAE 62-2001 standard of acceptable indoor air quality.

  • Building energy performance optimized to yield 25% savings over equivalent model building that meets the latest Energy Code.

  • MERV 13 filtration media used in the air handling units to improve indoor air quality.

  • Energy recovery ventilator utilized to lower building heating and cooling utility costs.

  • Room carbon dioxide level sensing utilized to minimize outside air load on the heating and cooling systems.

  • Building DDC system monitors HVAC and lighting system for excessive energy consumption.
