Mechanical systems design and construction phase services for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new Biochemistry Laboratory located in new 24,000 square foot underground connector.

Special Circumstances

  • Three existing laboratory/research buildings were interconnected through the biochemistry building.

  • Utilized lab differential pressure controls to verify and maintain negative pressure within lab during occupied and unoccupied hours.

  • Labs incorporate night setback during unoccupied hours, reducing airflows and saving energy costs.

  • Central plant hot and chilled water piping was extended to serve the biochemistry connector.

  • Utility tunnel utilized for services with valves in corridor – access through lab ceiling not required.

  • Acid waste and vent system from lab rooms routed to existing acid dilution basin.
