Special Circumstances
Building interior gutted to
shell for new layout. HVAC system replaced with
high-efficiency water-source heat pumps (WSHPs).
Old mechanical rooms retrofitted
with new tempered energy recovery units (TERVs) for a
de-coupled 100% outside air system. Water-cooled condensers
tied into the tempered water loop.
Each classroom and major space
fitted with separate air outlets for supply of 100%
conditioned outside air to assure prescribed ventilation
rates.
Battery restrooms relocated off
exterior walls to center of building to maximize daylight
views for new classrooms.
Unique offset installation
scheme used for WSHP in corridors to overcome limited
clearances above the ceiling.
