Building Addition and Renovation

Scope

Complete mechanical design and construction phase services for a 17,500 sq. ft. Special Needs classroom addition and HVAC renovations for a 85,000 sq. ft. portion of the existing high school.  New energy recovery ventilators were added to provide energy efficient pre-treatment of the outside air supplied to the classrooms.  The existing domestic water heating system and water coolers were replaced.

Special Circumstances

  • New classroom addition included a variable volume chilled water airhandler.

  • New classroom addition included an energy recovery ventilator with heating and cooling coils ducted to each classroom.

  • Five existing airhandlers were replaced with energy efficient variable volume airhandlers.

  • The existing Locker Rooms were conditioned by a new energy recovery ventilator with cooling and heating coils.  Similar units were added to the five replacement airhandlers to pre-treat outside air required for the classrooms.

  • Kitchen range hood ventilation system was replaced.

  • The existing domestic water heating system was replaced with a 94% efficient water heating system.

  • Existing water coolers were replaced with ADA compliant water coolers.
